Earth Day

Earth Day is fast approaching, April 22nd to be exact. Baltimore Road has the perfect piece of music for you as you consider the wondrous nature of our home planet, and, all too often overlooked, its fragility. If you want a truly spiritual experience, take a look at the photo extravaganza called “Earth…Spirit of Place” that features the photos taken by Chris Hadfield and other astronauts from the International Space Station and other vehicles over the years. Be sure to read Carl Sagan’s words on the face plate inside…it will get you misty-eyed. Then put on our second CD and listen to Wayne’s paean to Gaia, “Look Around”, for the full impact of the day.

We’d also appreciate it if you could ask your local radio stations to spin “Look Around”…our CDs are in their libraries and we think Canadians ought to be reminded about our stewardship responsibility for Mother Earth.

Cabin & House Concerts

We’re gearing up for our two annual summer forays into the Interlake at the private functions hosted by our good friends in Grindstone (‘StoneFest) and Spruce Sands (SpruceFest). We’re really excited about continuing the new, “unplugged” format we adopted to present our music to very appreciative audiences last year. Seems everyone liked the more intimate experience that was the result, and we’ll be fine-tuning that experience to make sure we deliver our best.

We’d be completely remiss, not to mention lousy marketers, if we didn’t throw in the plug for you to consider hosting one of these events yourselves. All it takes is a few friends sharing a common love of music, a few square meters of space and BINGO, instant concert venue! We reiterate that no venue is too small (you’d be amazed at how little space the four of us need), and there is no minimum audience. Why not get in touch with any of us, and we can discuss how this can work in your living room, rec. room, sunroom or cottage. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to put this kind of event together.

Recording

Baltimore Road has been writing some new music, and we have a number of our existing tunes you won’t find on our two CDs. We’re busy getting these prepared for putting up in electronic format on CBC Radio3, and we’re considering how we might also get these on our website that Tom is in the process of revamping. Good things take time, so please bear with us as we work out some kinks. We’ll be sure to let you know when these tunes are available, and how you can get to hear them.
